Oil and crabs

So the Bay Area oil spill has delayed the opening of crab season. Crab is obviously a unique regional food, but it's also a traditional seasonal and holiday food for many locals. My family would eat crab on Christmas Eve every year and we weren't, you know, weird for doing so. The delay seems to be just that, though, and there's no word on how the spill directly affected the crab population.
